October Recap and Awards

October was a decent month for me.  It’s not one that I say “where did the time go?”, but it also didn’t drag on.  This is important to me.  I want to feel like I’m living life at just the right pace.  Not too fast and not too slow.  Let’s get on to the recap though so that I can move on with November!

Greatest Portrait of Chewie – Hands down this award goes to this fantastic portrait of Just Chewie.  It’s one of my favorite photographs of him ever.

Nature’s Loudest Scream of “It’s Fall!” – Maybe just because I’m drawn to these things like crazy, but this photograph from a walk around Como Lake in St. Paul is the winner.  I’ve had other days where I’ve taken more pictures of these plants (I forget what they are already).  I didn’t post them because I feel like I should spread the love to other plant life.

Most AppetizingLearning to make sushi was amazing.  I’ve been craving sushi a lot lately and now that I at least know the basics of making it at home, we could save some cash!

Best Couples Portrait – These loony folks that just make faces at the camera.  I’m cooking up more ideas of what we can do in the future.  Just for fun!

Biggest Letdown – The preview of our recent living room wall art project.  All that led to was this disappointing post where we realized something was wrong that we couldn’t fix.

Best Continuation of a Long Term Project – I took the second photograph in a series that shows the same tree through all four of Minnesota’s seasons. (here is the summer photo)

Tony’s Award of Excellence – This month Tony has selected the Morning Frost photograph.  Probably because he is excited for winter.  In many ways we are opposites, this is just one of those.  Luckily we still love each other.

Highest Contrast – High contract photographs are like porn to me.  I’m sorry mom, I can’t think of a better way to describe it!  When I see a beautiful black and white with very little to no grey in between, I just want to reach out and hug it.  Anyway, this Naked Tree photo won that prize this month allowing us to end on a high note.  (high note, get it?  high contrast!  did I just ruin it?)
